Items of Interest from the HUGM (Hawaii User's Group Meeting) August 14, 2006

Here are some items of interest concerning the HUGM held August 14, 2006 at UH Manoa Hamilton Library.

1.) Demos of a new product called Analyzer were given. It will not be part of a scheduled upgrade, but will be sold as an additional module. This product allows for people to create reports without having to use the MS Access software. It is amazing and really easy to use.

2) A new WebVoyage interface will be released in 2007. It will be a separate release from Voyager 6. It has many new features and provides a much cleaner screen which should prove appealing to our patrons.

3) Both Richard and I attended a session by Ralph Toyama from Leeward Community College with tips for library renovations. I have extra copies of his tip sheet to distribute at a future Renoavation Task Force Meeting. Ralph is also sending me a copy of his preventing, notes, links to photographs, and links to campus emails about the renovation.

4.) Although I could not attend, I did get the notes from Gwen Sinclair's presentation's label printing. Once Kathleen is on board she, Avis, and Kristin may want to review this handout.

5.) Both Richard and Ruth Marie Quirk gave a presentation of the highlights of this year's EndUser 2006 meeting. It was very informative and helpful.

Handouts from the meeting will be circulated to all staff.

It was a very productive day, with the information learned from Ralph the most critical.
